Ukulele Intermediate Class

2 Course Options!

1. Intermediate Level – The Ongoing Journey!
Wednesdays, Noon – 1:00 pm.

We’ll continue to expand your ukulele horizons with all new songs and styles, rhythm techniques, fancy goodies, music theory, song arranging, and more. Perfect for those who want to have a blast advancing their strumming, singing, and fancy-stuff repertoire. Follow-up to Uke 2.5, 3, or Intermediate.

2. Intermediate Level – Chord/Melody Technique Focus
Wednesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm.

In this class, we will study the techniques and sensibilities of playing chord/melody style. What is chord/melody? It is essentially an instrumental solo, in which you are playing the melody, the chords, and the rhythm of the song, all at once.
Think: the iconic intro to the Beatles’ ‘Here Comes the Sun’. Or ‘Blackbird’.
Designed for those who want an intensive up-close focus on one technique/style.

NOTE on SELECTING YOUR CLASS LEVEL:

If you have been in a class before, and feel ready to forge ahead, simply advance yourself to the next level from whatever you took last time.

If you’re not quite ready to forge ahead, but want to reinforce and solidify your existing skills,
feel free to re-take a class-level you’ve already taken. This is a great way to get another go-around at really getting the skills solidly nailed down before moving ahead.

If you find you’ve signed up for a class that ends up feeling too slow, or too fast for you, you can always switch out to another level.

ABOUT VIDEO:
This semester’s classes will not be videoed in full. After each class, there will be a Recap Segment of about 5-7 minutes, where Lisa will invite students to step forward with their own video devices (phone, or other*), and collect their own personal video of the key points and tips that were covered in the class. Feel free to ask questions and request any clarifications – this is YOUR study-guide material!
Also, you are welcome to video anything you want to during class.

(*about video devices: if you do not have a phone that can take video, there are many low-priced options for a basic digital video camera, starting in at about $25. No need for anything fancy or pricey. Also, many hand-held regular digital cameras can shoot video.)

ABOUT PRACTICING and AFTER-CLASS SUPPORT:
This semester, students will encouraged to participate in a Buddy System, or, a weekly Small Group Practice session. When you team up with a class Buddy, you can make a commitment to get together once a week (or more) to go over what was covered in class with each other. If you miss a class, your Buddy can share the Recap Video, and help you get up to speed on what you missed.
Weekly dedicated Small-Group Practice Sessions, focusing on the material covered in class, will be encouraged as well.
It gets lonely out there all on your own!
Buddy up and double your learning and fun factor!

ABOUT ONLINE-ONLY CLASSES:
These are full-length live recordings of a class that has already taken place ‘in real time’, in a past semester. When you sign up, you get 6 1-hour class videos, plus PDF downloads of all support materials and class notes. You are encouraged to  the videos watch 1 at a time, and then practice that material until it feels solid and you are ready to move ahead to the next video. Binge watching not encouraged! Compromises the learning process. Price: $95 per semester.

TYPES of UKES:
Classes will work with a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele. They will NOT work for baritone ukuleles, as the baritone is tuned differently.
